The Balkans by campervan
One van, four countries. Albania is small enough that every border is a morning's drive: you collect a campervan in Tirana and you can be on a different coast, in a different country, the same afternoon.
It does not have to be a round trip. The rental can start or finish in Podgorica in Montenegro, Prishtina in Kosovo or Skopje in North Macedonia as well as in Albania: drive one way and leave the van there, or pick it up over the border and come south. Choose them in the search as the pick-up or drop-off. Either way, tell us which countries you plan to enter at least 3 days beforehand and the green card that covers them is arranged before you arrive, at no cost.
Montenegro
Podgorica — about 2½ hours from Tirana
Podgorica is closer to Tirana than Vlorë is — two and a half hours over Hani i Hotit, with the Adriatic on the other side of it.
Kosovo
Prizren — about 2¾ hours from Tirana
The Rrugë e Kombit made this the easiest border in the region to cross. Prizren is a morning's drive up the Drin valley from Tirana.
North Macedonia
Ohrid — about 2¾ hours from Tirana
Lake Ohrid is one lake with two countries on it, and the crossing between them takes minutes. The circuit of the water is the trip people come for.
Greece
Ioannina — about 4½ hours from Tirana
The south of Albania runs straight into Epirus, and the border is the least busy part of the drive. You collect the van in Albania and keep going south.

Unlimited kilometres, so where you take it changes the fuel bill and nothing else.
Before you cross
The green card is issued per country, so it has to name the ones you are going to — a card naming Montenegro does nothing at the Kosovo border. The border rules cover what happens if plans change on the road, and what crossing unannounced costs.
